Biases in educational and hiring practices often lead to disadvantages for specific communities — including black, indigenous and people of color, women, immigrants, people with disabilities, people from working class backgrounds, and LGBTQI+ people. Open academic positions

Postdocs:

We offer state-of-the-art research resources and the welcoming, world class training and academic environment of UAB. Postdocs can be secure that they will receive dedicated mentoring for accomplishing their career goals. We place a high value on previous experience with rat behavior, programing in Python and Matlab, imaging and photometry techniques, and in vivo electrophysiology, but these are not strictly required. Applicants should email a cover letter specifying their career and research goals, as well as a CV and contact information for three references to Dr. Costa.

Graduate Students:

Prospective graduate students can apply to the Behavioral Neuroscience Graduate Program and the Neuroengineering PhD program. Our lab will also soon be able to accept students from the Graduate Biomedical Sciences. Students interested in applying for any of these programs, or in a lab rotation, are recommended to email Dr. Costa directly and in advance.

Undergraduates:

Students at UAB and other undergraduate institutions are welcome to apply to the K. M. Costa lab to gain research experience and to perform senior theses. While positions might be limited, we are always open to new inquiries. Interested undergrads should email Dr. Costa.
